Jürgen Scheuring is the primary architect of UMAN’s corporate models, tasked with bringing together the resources to guide corporate formation, operations and marketing. Jürgen worked for 20 years in the field of digital audio signal processing, acoustics, and loudspeaker development.
He developed the standard acoustic measuring software Room Tools and a special approach to linear phase FIR Filters. Jürgen co-founded in 1998 Ascendo GmbH, a company that works on the cutting edge of loudspeaker technology, digital room correction and acoustics. From that time he focused on marketing and business guidance. His strengths are in the global scope of technologies and bringing people together.
Jürgen Scheuring holds a Diploma in Physics from University of Tübingen.
Robby Gurdan is the link from the programmer to the customer at UMAN. The conceptual work of a universal media network is his major task in the company. He is responsible for all technical related tasks as well as customer related support. Robby has been active in the field of studio and live audio since 1985.
In 1994, he founded and led the company C-Mexx and from that time onwards was mainly involved with designing network based command and control solutions. From 1997 C-Mexx developed various market leading software products to control complex digital mixing desks. Under his technical lead, C-Mexx developed various DSP based large scale, multi-client, multi-user mixing console concepts for various OEM customers.
Since 2003 Robby has been working intensively with networking concepts and possibilities. Robby has been a speaker and panelist at numerous conferences, and an active participant in the AES Working Group on Audio Applications Using the High Performance Serial Bus.
Robby Gurdan holds an Audio Engineer and Tonmeister (SAE) degree. He holds a German and an American private pilot’s license and is an active pilot. And once a while some of his inspirations reveal themselves within the clouds of Europe’s or US’ skies.
Richard manages the UMAN R&D team located in South Africa. Richard is the ‘master mind’ of all bits and bytes in UMAN, and the heart of the technology. Richard Foss has been active in the field of Computer Music and Audio Engineering since 1982. Before moving to streaming-based technologies in 1999, he worked on the transmission of audio and MIDI over Ethernet, creating a studio server for the remote access of studio resources.
Since 1999, he worked first for Digital Harmony Technologies and more recently Yamaha’s mLAN group on solutions for the pro-audio industry. Richard is an avid marathon runner, and his deeper thoughts are hatched in the hills around Grahamstown. He has been a speaker and panelist at numerous conferences and an active participant in the AES Working Group on Audio Applications Using the High PerformanceSerial Bus.
He currently holds a chair in that group. Richard Foss holds a PhD in Computer Science from Rhodes University.
